My Design Process

Step 1: Discovery

During this stage, you’ll tell me about your design project, your goals for the piece, and how it will be used, such as marketing, an event, or general information. I’ll ask questions to learn about your organization and your audience so the finished design can speak to the right people. We’ll also review your brand guidelines and your existing materials. I’ll then summarize the information we’ve discussed and share it with you to make sure we’re aligned on the project’s scope and objectives.

Step 2: Scheduling

Next I’ll create a project schedule based on your desired delivery date. It will outline when I’ll need content like text and images, when you can expect to receive proofs for your review, and when the final files will be delivered. This helps keep the project on track and ensures each step is clear and well-timed.

Step 3: Design & Layout

Once the schedule is agreed upon, I’ll begin designing your piece. Depending on the size, scope and schedule of your project, the design phase may take anywhere from a few days to several weeks.

Step 4: Review & Revise

I’ll provide a pdf of the design for your feedback, then revise it based on your input. You can share your thoughts with me in person, by phone, or leave comments in the pdf. This back-and-forth process usually takes two or three rounds.

Step 4: File Delivery

Electronic files of the final approved design will be delivered in the appropriate file format (pdf, jpg, eps, etc.) and in the correct color space (RGB, HEX, or CMYK). Depending on their size, the files are either emailed to you or uploaded to Dropbox, where you can download them at your convenience.
